In 1971, a black Herman Boone was hired as the coach of the football team at one of the high schools in the city of Williams. He will have to coach the guys for the next season. Before him, the coach was Bill Yoest, who had a wonderful reputation in this business. As a sign of respect for his predecessor, the main character offers him the place of his assistant. At first, Bill refuses the offer, but after learning that the team's players will boycott the new coach in case of his refusal, he decides to agree.<br />
If the students really decided to do such an act, they would lose their future scholarship to study at the university. Now the team has a great new assistant who has a lot of experience working with them. The coaching skills of a new specialist help to move forward significantly. But at that time there were still great difficulties in America, which concerned racial hostility.<br />
Now, people needed to build relationships in such a way that these contradictions did not affect the overall work. The Titans have managed to turn into a really strong team. This event became one of the most significant not only in the life of the team and the school itself, but for all black athletes in general, as it showed that the result depends on completely different things.<br />
