Zhi Yulin meets with CITS director Jones
On November 16, President Zhi Yulin met with Scott Jones, the visiting director of CITS (Center for International Trade and Security) of the University of Georgia.
Zhi welcomed Dr. Jones. Hailing the decade-long cooperation between NORINCO and CITS, he said the two sides have carried out practical and effective cooperation in a wide range of areas, covering the improvement of export self-discipline, publicity of NORINCO's self-disciplinary work, analysis and study of policies and reports, joint hosting of symposiums and business trainings, and joint participation in international non-proliferation meetings. He urged the two sides to actively explore new cooperation modes that adapt to the new situations on the basis of previous cooperation.
Dr. Jones noted that CITS and NORINCO have worked together for a long time and such cooperation has become more stable in recent years. CITS wishes to expand the cooperation areas by leveraging University of Georgia's quality resources, carry out more frequent exchanges, and make their cooperation an example for civil cooperation between the two countries.
Zhi Yulin inspects security work in Dalian subsidiaries
From October 26 to 27, President Zhi Yulin inspected the security work at NORINCO Dalian and Dalian NORINCO Oil Products Company, and inspected NORINCO's other subsidiaries in Dalian.
At NORINCO Dalian, Zhi made a comprehensive security inspection in the warehouse, barracks and office area, and made detailed inquiries about business procedures, warehouse and facilities, and the use and maintenance of equipment. He asked about the safeguard measures for the storage and transportation of hazardous goods, and made requirements on enhancing stakeholder management and carrying out security education in a standard way. Zhi emphasized that the subsidiaries in Dalian should implement the central government's requirement on deepening the reform and development of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), have the confidence and resolve for development, and dare to take responsibilities and make innovations. He urged them to revitalize the enterprises through institutional reform, improve operating efficiency, make full use of the joint Party committee in Dalian, and continue to enhance Party building and ideological and political education.
Zhang Guanjie inspects subsidiaries in Tianjin
From November 5 to 6, Zhang Guanjie, secretary of NORINCO's Party committee, inspected subsidiaries in Tianjin.
Zhang inspected the security work at Tianjin Logistics Company, NORINCO Isewan Company and Huate Company, learnt about their production, operation and Party building, and held talks with the management of each company.
During the inspection, Zhang demanded the subsidiaries to strictly fulfill their security responsibilities, implement high standards and rigorous requirements, enhance security awareness, put in place security facilities and management, and make continuous improvements. He urged them to innovate in business model, elevate management level and press ahead with transformation and upgrading by aligning their own advantages with the Belt and Road Initiative and the 13th Five-year Plan. On October 28, the "Technical Study and Industrial Application of Wet-type Copper Refining Process at Monywa S&K Mine in Myanmar" successfully passed technological authentication.
Seven experts on mineral development were invited from the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing General Research Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (BGRIMM), General Research Institute for Nonferrous Metals, China ENFI Engineering and China Railway Resources Group to form the authentication committee. They listened to the technical report made by the project team and reviewed relevant materials. Based on inquiries and discussions, the authentication committee agreed that the project features technological advancement, environmental friendliness and substantial economic benefits and positive social effects. Having reached the world-leading level in the field of wet-type copper refining, the technology has vast application prospects.
Survey of Pt-Pd mine in Zimbabwe passes expert review
On November 10, the "general and detailed survey of Pt-Pd mine in Hopewell in Zimbabwe", a project under the Central Geological Exploration Fund, successfully passed expert review.
This is a special project on the risk survey of overseas mineral resources under the Central Geological Exploration Fund jointly set up by the Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR) and Ministry of Finance. 124955.95 meters have been drilled, which is 181.89% of the task assigned by MLR, and an ultra-large Pt-Pd ore deposit with multiple metals has been explored. Basic information about the ore deposit in Hopewell has been ascertained, including the shape, scale, form, grade and thickness changes, distribution, and hydraulic, environmental and geological conditions, providing the geological reference and resource guarantee for project development and further survey.
At the meeting, the experts reviewed the project report and examined the project expense settlement report. After a series of sections, such as review of project materials, listening to report, Q&A and collective discussion, the experts agreed that the project has provided comprehensive and all-round materials, and the work quality complies with relevant regulations and norms. They all agreed the project should pass the review.
Wanbao Mining holds International Symposium on Bio-metallurgical Technology for Copper Mine
On October 15, Wanbao Mining held the "International Symposium on Bio-metallurgical Technology for Copper Mine".
